Aveleda participated in 2 events in March, in which we presented our newest project: the “Aveleda – Wine and Health award”.

Although we hadn’t finished the contest regulation, we couldn’t say no to this opportunity to show the project at the “Congresso Português de Dietética e Nutrição”, which occured on March 16 and 17 in Lisbon, since the invitation was addressed to us from the “Associação Portuguesa de Dietistas” board. 

There was a lot of interest in our project among specialists form Food and Health sectors. That interest was complemented with words of praise to our wines and our Quinta. At the end of the fist day we served all atendees with our Quinta da Aveleda wine, wich was selected to be the “Verde de Honra”.  

Next city to receive the project was Aveiro, at the end of March. We went to Universidade de Aveiro and participated in UATEC@Biologia, a program that aims to bring closer the University students and the corporate world. Once again our award raised a lot of interest among those that participated at the event.

With these positive reactions we are even more confident that the project will be well received in the Portuguese University community and even by independet investigators, which can result in some interesting pappers that can show a stronger connection between Wine and Health.

It is always with great joy that we share what we proudly produce. Harvest is a special time, when expectations for the year to come get their own taste, color and history. It is also the ending of a cycle in the vineyard, and the beginning of another one.

Last September we had the pleasure of hosting a group of guests from our partner in Brazil, Interfood.  Sommeliers and a part of Interfood’s staff came to share their unique “joie de vivre” travelling around Aveleda’s vineyards. We have had very informative visits as well as great typical meals.

Wine is what gathered us and we can say that it unites relationships and cultures.

We do hope to meet you all again very soon. Let’s toast to friendship!

As time goes by, harvest is coming to an end. Its early start on the 9 of August made us predict a good vintage but the grapes showed low acidity levels. The last week of August surprised us with cool temperatures and some light rain. We then interrupted the picking, allowing the vines to benefit from the weather.

The first weeks of September offered magnificent conditions to harvest the rest of the grapes. The Loureiro variety is extremely aromatic while the Alvarinho shows impeccable healthy conditions as well as good production levels.

Let’s proceed with this work and wait for the outcome of such an intense period.

Harvest is taking place under a beautiful summer sun. This time of the year we have been honored by the visits of our best ambassadors in Massachusetts: the United Liquors team. Among meetings, visits and tastings there was time for a contest of the biggest bunch found in a specific plot. Dave Sharrow won this challenge bringing a 2,9Lb bunch of Arinto. Our gratitude and best wishes for the rest of your stay!
